Frequently Asked Questions
Alive in You is a Mission Trip organization that has been operating for 17 years. They have had mission camps at various locations across the country. Alive in You is “part Conference, part Service Camp and 100% Catholic.” Over the course of our week at camp, we will serve people in need, dive into our Catholic faith, and have a blast hanging out with other young Catholics from around the country. In addition to our time of service, morning and evening program will include fun games, fantastic talks from a dynamic speaker, and music led by a great worship leader.
We don’t want to give away too many details, but here are the basics!

Yes, adults will be with teens at all times. We have one brief adult meeting at the beginning of our camp where the Alive in You staff is with the students (that is the start of dinner on Tuesday), but other than that our teens and adults from Holy Family will be together. Each parish is responsible for bringing at least 1 adult per every 6 students Each parish’s adults are responsible for monitoring the behavior of their own teens.
All participating adults must be cleared through their own diocese’s safe environment program. At the adult meeting at the beginning of camp, we cover all of rules and expectations for adults and then we are with them all week to offer guidance. Alive in You also works closely with youth ministers throughout the week to address any issues or concerns that may arise.
Typical work project for Alive in You camps include: simple building projects with Habitat for Humanity, painting, landscaping, working at low income community centers, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc. Again, the exact work will be determined in the Spring by the work project coordinator, with the approval of the youth ministers.
Parishes attend work projects together, so the adult leaders from Holy Family will be supervising your teens during service work.
Alive in You considers safety in every decision they make about their camps, from work project locations to ensuring that all adult participants are safe environment trained to rules and boundaries at the host facility to the relationship that their staff builds with the youth ministers and adult leaders throughout the week. It is also important to remember that the adults that have the most contact with your teens will be the adults that Holy Family brings with us from our parish. Alive in You encourages our adults to communicate with their staff and leadership throughout the week and empowers us to make the best decisions for our teens, especially during our work projects.
Alive in You also has a code of conduct policy signed by every teen and their parents prior to camp. They will go back over this policy with the participants during the first session. They have very clear rules and boundaries and clear consequences if rules are broken. If they have an issue with a young person, the Alive in You staff meets with the youth minister and adult leaders involved to determine a course of action. Any serious violation of the code of conduct policy will result in a student being sent home at their parent's expense (this has only happened a couple of times in their 16 years of running our ministry, but they think it’s important for all of their participants to understand that their policies are in place for the good and safety of all who participate own safety and will enforce consequences if needed).
