Important Announcement: Cancellations
Important Announcement:
Based on information published by the CDC, social distancing is a commonsense measure to practice during this time of uncertainty. Through much prayer and consideration, and consultation within our community, all classes and meetings and activities at Holy Family Catholic Church and Holy Family Learning Center from March 13th through March 31st, 2020 have been cancelled in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and to perform a deep clean of our building. At this time, weekday Masses, weekend Masses, Confessions, Confirmation, Baptisms, Funerals, and Adoration are NOT affected. We will be suspending coffee and donuts after Mass. We will re-evaluate the timing of re-opening our facility closer to March 31st. Any possible suspension of Mass and any Sacrament, including our upcoming Confirmation will be the Bishop’s decision.
In a communication from Bishop Spalding this week, he states “those experiencing symptoms of illness or are particularly concerned about the risk of infection based on other health factors are not bound by the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. He goes on to state in a letter dated March 12, these are acts of prudence and are charitable in service of our neighbor.
Those who choose to stay at home will be able to view our 8:30 and 11:00 am Sunday Masses via livestreaming.
Here are the other measures that we are taking:
- Distribution of Holy Communion in the species of wine is suspended.
- At the sign of the peace, please refrain from physical contact with those around you.
- Everyone is strongly encouraged to receive Communion by hand and not on the tongue.
- All Eucharistic Ministers will sanitize their hands before and after Communion.
Please know that these decisions have been very difficult for our pastoral team, and we appreciate your continued prayers and support during this challenging time. Let us all pray for one another.
