Religious Formation 2020/2021 Announcement
Dear 2020-2021 Parents and Catechists –
After much prayerful thought and discussion, we are excited to announce that we will be moving to a new program this year – Christ In Us by Sadlier. The new program will allow us the capability to offer online Religious Formation classes for 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades for 2020-2021. In consideration of the guidelines provided by the Diocese for the re-opening of Religious Formation programs (attached), and the continued need for social distancing, we will only offer in-person classes for the Sacrament years (2nd, 7th and 8th grades). In-person classes for 2nd, 7th, and 8th will be offered at all of the usual Religious Formation times (Sunday 9:40 and 6:45, Wednesday 4:30, 5:45 and 7:00 ).
PRE-SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN
Students will have the option to pick up books in late August to use for home schooling. We will not be offering classes at 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Books may completed at the family’s own pace.
GRADES 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6
We will schedule dates in late August to pick up books. Students will be assigned to classes within the Sadlier portal and will be asked to complete four assignments a month. Completed assignments will be reviewed by the students’ Catechists. Once a month, we will ask the Catechists to schedule a brief Zoom meeting with their class to review the lessons, answer any questions, and allow the group to connect and faith share. Families will be asked to sign a release allowing their students to participate in the Zoom meetings.
CATECHISTS NEEDED FOR GRADES 2, 7, & 8
Catechists are still needed. We have updated the sign-ups for all grades. If you have signed up to teach 2nd, 7th, or 8th grades, please let us know as soon as possible if you will be comfortable teaching in-person classes. In accordance with Diocesan guidelines, students will be required to wear masks for in-person classes.
We will be utilizing all of our large classrooms and spaces, and students will be distanced in the classroom. Most classes will not be larger than 12 students. In specific circumstances, the classes may be larger, but they will also meet in a larger room or space so that students are able to maintain social distancing.
